Using my imagination, creating pieces of art and thinking tactically
I really enjoy using my imagination to write stories. It is fun to create a different world with no limit to
the characters you can describe and the adventures they can have. I’ve always loved reading and my
favourite writer is Michael Morpurgo. I also enjoy all the Harry Potter books and anything with a magical,
mystery theme. I like experimenting with new words and using connecting phrases and descriptions. I recently
wrote a Celtic prayer and it was fun to use some gory words! I’m looking forward to improving my writing
skills, especially crafting some stories about adventure and human emotions and feelings.
There are so many ways to create pieces of art and I like trying out different effects and materials. We
have a well-stocked Art department where you can paint, draw, develop photography and learn pottery. I
especially like making pictures of the sea and water. I like to try to capture sea spray and the way the
light plays on it. I often go to Woolacombe beach in Devon with my family, so that provides me with
some inspiration. I recently had a picture of mine in the local paper; it was a pastel drawing of Glastonbury
Tor at sunset. As well as doing art during lessons, we are able to join pottery and art club, and they are
always very popular.

Tackling is my favourite part of playing hockey and also helping the goalkeeper defend the goal.
It's a great team game and we have lots of fun in our fixtures and coaching lessons. I was recently
in an U9 tournament and we did really well, winning all our games and not conceding a goal. The
coaches here are really helpful and give us good tips for playing well and thinking tactically.
It all helps to make you determined to try your best and improve your skills.

I started at Millfield Pre-Prep in Year 1. I love being here as there is so much to get involved in.
I took part in a Key Stage 2 general knowledge quiz and our team did really well. I'm keen on trampolining
and with our U9 team recently won gold at the IAPS Championships.
I live to try different clubs and I really enjoy Cubs. I have made a lot of friends here and we are all
encouraged to be kind and think about our classmates and how we can help each other. Life here is busy,
fun and challenging and it's like being part of a big family.
