Leading and motivating,
thinking on your feet,
“In Sixth Form I can access the Extended Project Qualification to develop my research skills, attend Economic Society lectures and get involved in a variety of debates.”
Being able to make change really motivates me. After Millfield I am particularly interested in a role that offers leadership where I am able to strive for social equality. In Sixth Form I can access the Extended Project Qualification to develop my research skills, attend Economic Society lectures and get involved in a variety of debates. In 2015 I was involved in the Millfield Hustings which gave me real life experience of standing for election. Using iPads for learning has enhanced my ability to research and gain access to different learning mediums. I have also had the benefit of meeting with Old Millfieldians who are currently studying at Oxbridge to assist in my own preparation for Oxbridge to study Philosophy, Politics and Economics.
I love being involved in any form of debate. Debate is intellectually stimulating and demands you to not only plan but think on your feet and meet the challenge of rebuttal. Millfield’s Debating Society provides many opportunities to get involved in pop up debates and competitions, such as the Oxfords Schools Debating Competition. Our Academic Enrichment programme also offers the opportunity to attend external competitions such as the European Youth Parliament and the Model United Nations. Other skills I have developed through debate are active listening and the confidence to speak in front of an audience.

“One amazing benefit of being at Millfield is that I can access the facilities for all five disciplines within a five minute walk of my boarding house.”
I have always been a keen swimmer and horse rider and Millfield has developed my skills in the other disciplines required. The Modern Pentathlon programme offers me the flexibility to balance my academic work with my training and one amazing benefit of being at Millfield is that I can access the facilities for all five disciplines within a five minute walk of my boarding house, and stable my horse at school. As Captain of the Modern Pentathlon team it has given me great pride to see the team compete at the U19 GB Youth International, achieve 4th place at the National Modern Tetrathlon and have the opportunity to compete in our Olympic-size pool in the Modern Biathlon Championships.
I joined Millfield in Year 10 from my home town in Hertfordshire. School life is busy, there is always something to do or friends to be with. I enjoy the diversity and challenge of my academic studies and the co-curricular activities I take part in, from debates and lectures to cross country running up Glastonbury Tor. I really enjoy being involved in the Millfield community, this year I was voted in as a prefect by peers and staff. House life is a lot of fun, there are house matches, the House Song competition and an abundance of trips and activities to take part in.
