Communicating around the world, carving out a future and defending our corner
My teachers help to make learning languages fun and interesting. I find that having language skills is very useful
when visiting other countries. I am continuing to learn French and will also be starting Latin from this year. I am
pleased about this as I'm keen to learn more. All year groups also have the option to join clubs to learn Mandarin,
Arabic and Russian. Each year, the school takes part in the European Day of Languages and we run a Euro Cafe where
we try food from different countries and learn about their cultures. Some of our Year 8 pupils have been teaching
languages to children in a local primary school too - I would like to try that one day.

I’ve always enjoyed making objects out of everyday things – I made a cat from paperclips once!
I’m really looking forward to starting stone carving at school and joining the Pottery Club. Some of
the pieces I’ve seen my older friends make are amazing. We have a kiln for firing the pottery work
and Design & Technology classrooms with lots of tools to help us create things. Our artist in residence,
Mr Edalatpour, is a brilliant stone carver with his own workshop
"Being at Millfield Prep is very enjoyable, happy and never dull"
My favourite position on the pitch is in defence, being the last in line apart from the
goalie – it’s quite a big responsibility.
Our sports coaches teach us really well, they help us improve our skills and encourage us to think
tactically on the pitch. Team work is very important and we look out for each other.
I come from Leeds though we spent some time in Saudi Arabia when I was younger. I’ve been at
Millfield Prep since Year 3 and I board in Chestnut House.
I recently took part in the KS2 General Knowledge Quiz and went to the final at Harrow School. Another
team I was in reached the finals of the National Prep Schools Year 5 Science Quiz.
Sport is a favourite part of the week for me and I am a keen fencer. I recently did well in the sabre
discipline in the IAPS Finals held at our school.
I love the environment at Millfield Prep; there is so much space to play during the day and for our sports
lessons. We are all pushed to learn and work as hard as we can, but most importantly, it’s fun!
