Year 7 wetland habitat experience

To get a better understanding of habitats, the Year 7 pupils travelled to Gloucestershire to visit Slimbridge Wetland Centre.

Three activities enabled pupils to gain first-hand experience of a wetland habitat and to meet some of the animals both large and small, while taking part in pond dipping revealed water teeming with life.

Pupils were treated to a session led by the centre education staff, in which they could see their discoveries magnified on a large digital screen. They also attended an art masterclass, in which pupils used water colours to capture a wetland scene.

The third activity gave pupils an opportunity to explore the expansive grounds and observe a number of species of plants and animals, including some otters.
