Writing stories, cooking in Forest School and running on Sports Day.
"I like the pictures in stories. I wrote about the Three Billy Goats Gruff and stuck on a picture of the troll on the bridge."
Listening to stories and acting out ideas are part of school days at Pre-Prep. Pupils develop vocabulary and literacy skills using phonics and handwriting practice and have access to Millfield Prep's library resources. Small class sizes and experienced teachers ensure that all children are given individual care and attention.
Pre-Prep children have cookery lessons every week, where they select ingredients and the equipment they need to weigh, measure out and prepare food. They also grow and harvest their own vegetables and fruit to make seasonal recipes to eat at snack time or take home to share. Baking in the Forest School bread oven and role-playing in the woodland mud kitchen are also favourite activities for our mini chefs.
"I peeled and grated carrots for a carrot cake. It was really yummy."
"On Sports Day I ran a race where I had to pick up three fish and put them in a net."
We believe being active and playing in a variety of games instils a healthy approach to life and learning. Pupils have access to excellent facilities and are given time to run and play during the school day. Each week pupils benefit from swimming lessons in the 25m heated indoor pool and PE and games sessions that include dance, gymnastics and ball skills.
Millfield Pre-Prep is a happy, vibrant school where our children love to learn. Our approach is designed to inspire and engage them, helping them to make the most of their talents and potential. Experienced teachers, small class sizes, a broad range of subjects and activities, spacious classrooms and outdoor areas enable us to achieve this. Before and after school care is available as well as over 20 free clubs. There is also the option to use the Early Years Entitlement and the Childcare Voucher Scheme.
