Learning about rainforests,
and riding competitions
“It’s really interesting to find out about tribes who live in the rainforest.”
I enjoy my inquiry lessons because we do a mixture of subjects including Geography, History, Science and Art. The topic ‘Saving the World’ has been interesting as we’ve found out about rainforests and visited Bristol Zoo to see the animals. My favourite subject is English and particularly spelling. Design and Technology is also fun as we make lots of different things. My teachers help me if I get stuck or need to ask questions.
“I really enjoy learning to play the piano – it’s great fun!”
My favourite instrument is the piano. I like the different sounds it makes and the fun pieces I get to perform. I try and practise for 10-15 minutes every day. Each week I have a lesson with my piano teacher who is really kind and shows me how to make something right. I hope to play to an audience soon – at the Christmas Carol Service at Wells Cathedral I did a reading in front of the whole school and lots of parents which I was really thrilled to get the chance to do.
I started riding in Year 2. I now ride three times a week and I like being able to finish my lessons and walk down to the stables to unwind. Sometimes I jump, other times I do flat work or we may go for a hack in the fields. The yard is a very friendly place and the staff are encouraging and kind. I also help with stable management and turn-out, feed and wash the horses. At some point I would love to have a pony of my own to stable at the school.
