New performers debut at first Johnson Sessions of the year
Many new faces took to the stage for the very first Johnson Sessions of the year. Millfield Music Department hosted the laid-back concert in the Johnson Hall, giving many pupils the opportunity to perform both acoustic covers and original songs.
The concert opened with a contemporary performance of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s Fortunate Son from pupil band The Croziers.
Following The Croziers, the audience heard two beautiful original songs from regular Johnson Sessions performers Laura Woodward and Rosie Smith, both Upper Sixth pupils who have been recently experimenting with song writing.
Further performances from Oska Zaky and Jobim Ffrench followed, as well as new acts, including a pupil who performs under the stage name Laila, who gave a compelling rendition of The Jackson 5’s I Want You Back. Difficult with such a famous song, Laila gave a wholly confident and fun version of the classic hit.
