150 pupils performed in the annual Summer Concert
Over 150 pupils took part in the Summer Concert this year – A Prelude to Summer. Pupils ranging from Pre-Prep to Year 8 performed a huge variety of music.
The Junior Choir’s message of ‘Try Everything’ set the tone of the evening. It was beautiful to see the Senior Choir, Junior Choir and much of the audience, united in song during an uplifting rendition of ‘Hey Jude’.
The Junior Rock Band’s ‘Highway to Hell’ and Guitar Group’s ‘Seven Nation Army’ had audience members rocking in the aisles.
The Orchestra, Wind Band and Percussion Ensemble demonstrated an outstanding level of musicianship and skill and the Oboe Ensemble performed with real flair and premiered a piece written by our very own flute and oboe teacher, Mrs Finch.
A special mention must go to the Year 2 violins, who managed to hold their nerve and perform beautifully in what must have seemed like an enormous occasion; the Year 4 Orchestra, who showed what can be achieved in a year of music lessons and premiered two pieces written by Mrs Finch; and to the Senior Rock Band who managed to round off the concert.
Congratulations to all pupils who took part and a special thanks to all the music staff for their tireless efforts in bringing this concert together.
