Double wins for Millfield Equestrian’s Junior Team at Hickstead 2018
Millfield Equestrian’s Junior team have become Hickstead Junior Schools Champions for 2018, claiming both team and individual honours.
The team of Millfield Prep pupils Hatty Kingsford, Eva Barnett and Lily Rhys and Millfield pupil Bronte Monks won the National Junior Schools Team Championships, with Eva Barnett also winning the individual championship on Millfield’s horse, Blaencanaid Highwayman. Eva’s teammate Lily Rhys also finished third in the individual competition. The Millfield Prep team last won the Hickstead Junior Championships in 2016, and previously 1999.
The Millfield team, consisting of current and former pupils Emma Manton, Alana Clements, Zoe Lindley-Smith and Reanna Stanhope placed third in the National Senior Schools competition, just two points behind the winners, Newbridge College. Millfield last won the Senior competition in 2016, where Millfield was the first school to win both the junior and senior sections of the competition in the same year since 2005.
The prestigious Hurstpierpoint College National Schools and Pony Club Jumping Championships, which for the first time included teams of four, are held at Hickstead and see hundreds of young show jumpers compete.
