British and school records set by Millfield Prep swimmers at national championships
Millfield Prep swimmers set british records, school records and personal bests at this year’s British and English Swimming National Championships.
Current Millfield Year 9 pupil David O’Loughlin set a British record during his 50m backstroke race at the British National Championships (28.17), as well as a school record for his 100m butterfly race at the English National Championships (59.73).
Current Millfield Year 9 pupil Matthew Hall set a school record in his 100m backstroke race at British National Championships (60.61) and the 200m backstroke race at the English National Championships (2.13.24). Both swimmers were in Year 8 at Millfield Prep at the time of the competition.
Other top performances included debut English National appearances from Year 8 pupils Grace Olding and Sofia Knight. There were also impressive performances in the English Nationals Open Water 2K from current Millfield Year 9 pupil Isabella Woollard and Year 8 pupil Georgina Woollard, who both finished in 9th and 10th place, respectively.
In June 2018, Millfield Prep was named as the top swimming school in the country after winning both the boys’ and girls’ events at the 2018 National IAPS (Independent Association of Prep Schools) Swimming Championships.
