Millfield Prep House Singing 2019
Pupils at Millfield Prep finished off the first half term of the year with their annual House Singing Competition.
After weeks of hard work in house assemblies and music lessons, the whole school came together to sing in their Houses, Angles, Saxons, Jutes and Danes.
Angles began proceedings, with an impressive rendition of a Coldplay medley made memorable by the use of colourful lights and ribbons as well as an impressive guitar solo from Year 6 pupil, Joe.
Saxons then performed ‘Rolling in the Deep’ with great enthusiasm and vigour. There were several beautiful solos, a great use of actions and wonderful part-singing to wow the audience.
Jutes brought a high-energy spirit to the competition with their version of ‘High Hopes’ by Panic! at the Disco. Their impressive performance was brought to end in style with a surprise confetti canon which showered the choir, audience and musicians in colourful sequins!
The final individual house song, performed by Danes, was the 90s classic ‘Everybody’ by the Backstreet Boys. Complete with an iconic dance number, enthusiastic singing and incredible outfits, it was a performance not to be forgotten!
In the final number of the competition, the whole school came together to sing an iconic Queen Medley. The pupils all worked hard preparing this 6-and-a-half-minute marathon with excellent results.
We were delighted to welcome Miss Deryn Edwards to adjudicate the event and she commented on the high standard of every house as well as how difficult her decision had been. After much deliberating, the winning house was announced as Saxons amid enthusiastic, excited cheering from the pupils.
