Year 2 visit home of Concord for air travel topic

Pupils in Year 2 visited the home of Concord after starting their new air travel topic, where they also met a Commander from HMS Heron at Yeovilton.

The children spent the day at the Fleet Air Arm Museum completing a history trail, where they started with pictures of old kites and air balloons, before searching for planes and helicopters around the site.

Many pupils enjoyed the jets and the interactive runway, and the famous Concord jet was also a favourite from the trip.  The pupils also spoke to Commander O’Sullivan, who briefly told the children about the local Royal Naval Air Station, Yeovilton, and the history behind the airfields name ‘HMS Heron’.
