Millfield presents Dyslexia Showcase with Made by Dyslexia and Microsoft
Millfield welcomed schools from across the country to hear from notable Dyslexic entrepreneurs, parents, teachers and political influencers at a Dyslexia Showcase, presented by Made by Dyslexia in partnership with Microsoft.
Hosted by Millfield Headmaster Gavin Horgan and former Millfield Prep and Millfield pupil and Made by Dyslexia founder Kate Griggs, the evening included inspirational discussions and presentations from Made By Dyslexia and Nicola Meek, UK Education Devices Lead at Microsoft, and the wider Millfield community.
The evening began with an introduction from Mr Horgan, who mentioned that Millfield was founded as a result of the need to educate princes from India in 1935, two of which were dyslexic. Millfield Prep Headmistress Shirley Shayler also explained how the school supports pupils with dyslexia.
The second panel discussion, called ‘The Value of Dyslexia’, included former Millfield pupils Tom Alexander, Co-founder & CEO Virgin Mobile, CEO Orange and EE, Ben Stirling Managing Director for Northern Europe at WebLoyalty.com and Freddie Saul, CEO of Kilver Court and Sarah Beeny, TV presenter and entrepreneur and current Millfield parent.
Current Millfield pupils were also able to talk about their experience with dyslexia at the school with Julie White and Sarah Hutchinson, Heads of Learning Development Centres at Millfield and Millfield Prep.
