Year 7's Glastonbury Pilgrimage

Year 7 undertook a pilgrimage to Glastonbury, putting into action their learning in History, Geography and Religious Studies.

The group walked from school carrying all their provisions, hoping to make a minimal carbon footprint. Following in the footsteps of over 100,000 pilgrims to Glastonbury each year, pupils were able to experience the journeys of our ancestors, visiting places of worship, the Abbey and Tor. For many, it was their first time walking up the Tor and learning about the history of Glastonbury, which had the earliest Christian Church in Western Europe.

The day gave Millfield Prep pupils the opportunity to learn about different faiths and develop a good knowledge of their local area, through seeing and doing. This term Year 7 are studying Christian pilgrimage, before studying pilgrimages of other faiths, as an introduction to world religions.
