Butleigh is a purpose-built house located opposite the main school campus and only three minutes' walk from the dining room and library. Its nearby location gives a sense of ‘going home' at the end of the day. The house has three main common rooms with televisions, DVD and satellite facilities. The main common room has a table football game, pool table and a table tennis table. There is a Quiet Room which contains two computers, a selection of books, daily newspapers and monthly magazines and a kitchen for snacks and drinks. Outside there is a grass play area for football and rugby.

Ben became Housemaster in September 2010, having spent the previous four years Assistant HsM at Walton House. Julie and Ben have two children, Charlie and Megan. Both Ben and Julie are Physical Education teachers: Julie joined Millfield in 2003 and Ben joined in September 2009, after his previous role as head of department in a local secondary school. Ben currently takes the 1st XI Football team and Julie teaches Trampolining.

Butleigh is a house with spirit, which promotes an ethos of respect for all with an unconditional positive regard. The Boyd's aim is to provide a relaxed and caring environment that allows the boys to feel secure and respected, with every opportunity to get as much as possible from Millfield. There is a genuine sense of community at Butleigh, and the priority is to provide a home away from school that the boys look forward to coming back to.
