Rich Owlett, along with his wife Jen, have run Holmcroft since September 2016. They have been houseparents since 2010 and prior to Holmcroft they ran Millfield House. They seek to create a warm environment where boys treat each other with respect. Food and fun are high on the list of priorities, so BBQ's, nachos and cakes are a regular feature of Holmcroft life, as are a wide range of trips and events.
Rich worked in industry for 17 years before becoming a teacher in 2013. At Millfield he teaches Business Studies and is a rugby coach and RYA dinghy instructor. He has been in charge of weekend events at the school, organising many trips covering a diverse range of interests from sky diving to topical debates. He frequently hosts dinners for local politicians and business people to enable pupils to have direct exposure to relevant people from a wide circle of backgrounds.
Jen studied Agricultural and Countryside Management at university and has lived in New Zealand, Switzerland, Greece and the UK.
Rich has two sons, Jack and Archie, and Jen and Rich have two daughters, Maddy and Fizzy. They have two family dogs - a field spaniel called Oakley and a German short haired pointer called Teddy. In their spare time Rich and Jen like to travel, spend time with their children and enjoy outdoor pursuits including sailing, boating and walking, in addition to music, pubs and good food.
Rich and Jen are committed to producing well balanced young men who know what they want to do in the world and have a plan to achieve their goals and ambitions. Being polite and getting the basics right is the first step along the way.
