Portway is a purpose-built house situated on the southern fringe of the school campus. The house has three main common rooms with televisions, DVD and satellite facilities. There is a Quiet Room, which contains two computers, a selection of books, daily newspapers and monthly magazines, and a kitchen for snacks and drinks. Outside there is a floodlit play area for sports.

Claire became Portway's Housemistress in September 2012. She aims to create a family atmosphere where girls can be themselves and develop lifelong friendships. She also hopes that Portway's girls will maintain high standards and keep up the tradition of being the smartest in appearance, the hardest working and the most enthusiastic about all that Millfield has to offer.

Claire teaches history and has previously been a Senior Tutor, Day houseparent and assistant at Portway for three years. Rob works for Clarks at their head office in Street. Claire, Rob and son, Joe, embrace being part of life at Portway, along with their two cats, Poppy and Tom. They enjoy spending time as a family, which usually involves swimming, zoos and other children's days out. Rob is a keen rugby supporter of Gloucester and has played for many years for Martock, a local team. Until recently he was the Chairman.
