Great was once a boarding house near Meare. Now it is a Day house located by the main gate. The pupils have a place to work, relax and it is a focal point in the morning when they arrive at school. The boys can get drinks and snacks at break and after school too. Great is a friendly place with a good mix of different talents. Facilities include a pool table, table football, a kitchen, Wi-Fi and networked computers.
In Great the boys from different years interact very well and there are plenty of opportunities for them to play in house matches in a variety of different sports. They are also encouraged to get involved in other areas of the school and take on responsibilities to broaden their experience.
John Bishop has been a Housemaster for nine years and an Assistant Housemaster for three years before that. He is also the Tutor-in-Charge of Italian and a coach for football and tennis. Prior to joining Millfield John taught in Kent and Italy.
