Mill is a very friendly and supportive place located alongside the girls’ day houses overlooking the Sir Gareth Edwards Pitch. It takes its name from a former boarding house and its current form came to be when Mill absorbed Rookery – another day house – in 2010. Mill relocated to a new building in September of that year, with brand new facilities including a kitchen, study room with computers, art displays, Sky TV and games.

As a Day house, Mill provides its boys with a great sense of community, belonging and friendship. There is a terrific mix of personalities and talent and the house is focused on developing, responsible and resilient young men.

Gavin Catto is the new Housemaster from September 2018. Gavin joined Millfield in 2014 as a Mathematics teacher. He also coaches the Boys' 1st XI hockey team and has been a Senior Tutor for Year 10 and 11 and a Liaison Tutor at Holmcroft. Prior to Millfield he worked for 20 years in finance in London, Tokyo and Singapore and attended Millfield as a pupil. Gavin is married to Kate and has two children, Will and Agnes. He is a passionate and ever optimistic supporter of Scotland’s rugby team.
