Millfield teams cross line together at 2019 Ten Tors
For the 2019 Ten Tors event, two teams of six students embarked on the Ten Tors 35 mile challenge. This required them to navigate independently without outside assistance across Dartmoor, checking in at ten different locations on their 35-mile route. Leading up to the event, they undertook seven months of rigorous training where they were equipped with the skills to safely manage themselves in such an environment.
Both teams departed at 7 am on the Saturday, along with 2412 other young people from across the South-West on their challenge. They walked until 8pm on the Saturday before making camp and resting up for a 6am start on the Sunday.
Miraculously, both Millfield teams arrived near the finish line, with Team A from the South and Team B from the East at near exactly the same time. Demonstrating true sportsmanship, the first team decided to wait for a few moments to allow the other team to catch up with them crossing the finish as one combined team.
Completing such a challenging event takes real commitment and resilience. To finish in such style truly demonstrates what an outstanding group of individuals the team was made up of.
