Lando makes history as youngest ever karting World Championship winner

Year 10 pupil Lando Norris rounded off his outstanding karting career by making history as the youngest ever World Championship winner.

The 14-year-old ADD Motorsports driver followed up his win in last season’s junior class with the title in his debut season at senior level. He took the crown despite competing against drivers several years older and more experienced.

This title has capped a remarkable three years for Lando which saw him crowned champion in the Formula Kart Stars series and runner-up in the MSA Super One British Championship in 2012. He finished first in the World Championships in Bahrain last year, as well as winning the WSK Euro series, and was crowned CIK FIA European Champion and Supercup Champion.

Next season Lando will have his focus firmly set on cars, he said: “It was so brilliant to finish on a high, it was a big achievement in my last kart race.

“I want to thank everyone for all their work and support in helping me with this win. I have to carry on working hard and see where it gets me.”
